Retuning an 1895 French Rive-GautieIn 1997 I retuned this low pitch Rive-Gautie flute from A=435 to A=441 modern scale pitch. I used this flute for several years and it can be heard on the Original Broadway Cast Album of "Ragtime The Musical" and others. I would never do this again! It was crazy intense work and I learned more about the flute than I would ever want to think about while performing! | So long! old tone holes . . .The body of the flute tube has been patched up with new silver tubing on the left hand in order to reposition the tone holes for the A=441 scale. Insane amount of work to do this! | New Tone Hole PositionsThe tone holes have been re-soldered into new positions. |
